Crews are working to drain and backfill a massive sinkhole on Livingston Road following a water main break.
The volume of gushing water quickly eroded asphalt and wore away at the ground below creating a hole reaching halfway across the road. The crater is several feet deep and crews are waiting until water is drained from the area before they get to work.
WJTV reached out to the city to get an idea of what may have caused the damage. Already, one home has been affected by water in the flooded area. Councilman Melvin Priester is checking into the situation to see how to minimize the impact of the situation. The Public Works Department is also trying to do what they can to make sure there is no loss of pressure.
If you are traveling in the area, officials say it would be best to find another route.
