JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Over 150 local women came together to build a Habitat for Humanity home in South Jackson.

The dedication for the 2016 Women Build home took place Wednesday afternoon.

Women volunteers raised funds for construction and helped to build the house over seven Saturdays in May and June.

The goal of the initiative is to provide all families with safe and decent housing.

Natasha Thomas and her two children will move into the new house on Greenview Street.

“It was one of my dreams to provide a stable home for my kids. We don’t have to move every year. This has been a dream come true. I never imagined this time last year I would be coming to my home dedication,” said Thomas.

Habitat for Humanity provides an opportunity for full home ownership through an interest free mortgage.
