Vicksburg police: 14-year-old charged with murder after shooting death of 11-year-old



VICKSBURG, Miss. (WJTV) – On Wednesday, Vicksburg police announced a 14-year-old boy was charged with manslaughter for the shooting death of an 11-year-old boy.

Police said the shooting happened at a home on Elizabeth Circle Tuesday night just before 8:00. Officers found the victim, 11-year-old Rashawn Wilbert, with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Warren County deputy coroner, Wilbert’s body was taken to the State Crime Lab in Pearl.

Police arrested 14-year-old Thomas Hardman in connection to Wilbert’s death. Hardman appeared in court on Wednesday, where his bond was set at $150,000. The case was bound over to the Warren County Grand Jury.

Investigators have not released the motive for the shooting.
