Man arrested for possession of child porn after lengthy investigation; bond set at $2 million

UPDATE: The Associated Press is reporting that 65-year-old Russell Haley, is being on $2 million bond on child pornography charges.

Haley was arrested at the Diamond Jacks Casino on August 6, 2015 for using the alleging using the free Wi-Fi to download pictures of child porn.

According to the Associated Press, he “faces a total of 50 counts of possession of child pornography.”


WARREN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A month’s long investigation has landed one man behind bars for possession of child porn.

Authorities from the Attorney General’s office said 65-year-old Russell Haley was arrested Thursday at the Diamond Jacks Casino in Vicksburg for two counts of possession of child pornography following warrants obtained by the Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit.

The investigation revealed that Haley was visiting hotel casinos throughout Mississippi and Louisiana, using aliases, to use the free Wi-Fi to download hundreds of child sexual abuse images.

The Louisiana and Mississippi Gaming Commissions were able to obtain the guest registry for the dates Haley was downloading these images from several Casino Hotels.  Agent’s Guest registry lists were compared and it was discovered that Haley was the only person checked into the hotel during this seven month time frame.

He’s accused of  going to the Diamond Jacks Casino in Vicksburg on Wednesday to download more illegal images. Authorities received a search warrant for his hotel room; they said they found , many images of child pornography on his laptop computer, thumb drives and optical discs.

Haley was booked into the Warren County Jail and is awaiting an initial appearance in Warren County Justice Court. If convicted, Haley faces up to 80 years behind bars.
