ADAMS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A man that has been arrested at least 29 times has been arrested and charged with murder.
Lavander Lashon Williams, 36, was picked up by authorities for the murder of Charles Edward Knight around 12:40 a.m. Monday morning.
Deputies were dispatched to M & M Deli after reports of shots fired.
Williams and Knight allegedly argued inside the deli and then engaged in a physical altercation in the parking lot.
The complainant said that Knight attempted to drive away when Williams retrieved a gun from his vehicle and fired at Knight as he was leaving.
The complainant said that Knight’s truck sped out of the parking lot into the backyard of a church on the corner of MLK and Steam Plant Road.
ACSO deputies followed the tracks of the truck and found Knight in his vehicle. Knight suffered a gunshot wound to his back and appeared to be deceased.
ACSO deputies were later alerted that Williams was at Merit Health Emergency Room seeking treatment for alleged assault wounds. Deputies later found Williams in the hospital parking lot and place him under arrest.
Williams is currently in the Adams County Jail charged with murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and parole violation.
Bond for all three charges equals $800,000.00.
Williams has been arrested 29 times with the Adams County Sheriff’s office since 2000.
This case is still under investigation and more arrests may be pending.
