JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Crews with the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) said crews will work to repair the bank of I-20 E. at Ellis Avenue in Jackson.
A picture showed the bank giving away. Michael Flood with MDOT said the department is aware of the issue, and they are working on a contract to get the road permanently fixed.
Over the next few weeks, MDOT will work on a temporary fix for the road. Flood said the issue was caused by a slide, and there are several in the area.
According to Flood, the issue has to do with the type of soil that’s under the bridge. For a temporary fix, MDOT crews will dig out the old soil and replace it with new soil.
Flood said the road is still safe to drive on and is being constantly monitored.
