RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) —  Rankin and Madison counties District Attorney Michael Guest said his office had submitted all of the necessary paperwork to Kansas authorities to have Alex Deaton brought back to Mississippi.

Law enforcement officers accused Deaton of murdering two people and shooting a third person in Mississippi, before leaving the state and allegedly committing more crimes.

Authorities captured Deaton in Kansas after a fiery crash. Pratt County authorities accused him of shooting a store clerk and stealing a car. In that case, a judge sentenced him to 155 months for attempted first-degree murder and 59 months for aggravated robbery.

Guest said his office submitted all the necessary paperwork to Kansas and are awaiting the approval of the Kansas Department of Corrections to pick up Deaton so he can face the Mississippi charges.

Deaton was sentenced in Kansas to 155 months for attempted first-degree murder and 59 months for aggravated robbery. Deaton is accused of killing his ex-girlfriend, Heather Robinson, and shooting a jogger in Brandon. He’s also facing a Neshoba County murder charge in connection with the death of Brenda Pinter. She was shot and killed in a church.

The third state that Deaton will have to face charges in is New Mexico. Before he made it to Kansas, authorities said he allegedly kidnapped a couple near a hiking trail. Police say the victims were held at gunpoint and forced inside of the trunk. The victims were shot during the struggle.
