Eudora Welty Library reopens after AC goes out

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV)-- You called and we got answers for you about the Eudora Welty Library being closed.

The executive director of the Jackson-Hinds Library System tells us all three of their air conditioning units went out Saturday.

Patty Furr says it was 85 degrees in the building, so they were forced to shut their doors and remained closed Monday and Tuesday.

The library reopened Wednesday around 1:30 in the afternoon after one AC unit was repaired.

"We should be alright now because the air conditioning down here is still on," said Furr. "We still have two units to get fixed for $21,000 that the City of Jackson is being asked to pay so it's a heavy bill."

Furr says having even one AC unit up and running makes them happy because the library is so important to people Jackson.
