Hinds County Sheriff’s Department arrests two jailers for contraband

Hinds County Sheriff, Victor Mason will hold a quick press conference today at 11:00 am. 

Sheriff Mason will release details surrounding the arrest of two department jailers for allegedly supply inmates with drugs and other contraband.

Two jailers, Marcell Anderson, 21, of Madison and Shauntavia Lee, 26, of Clinton have been arrested and charged.

Anderson faces charges of, Possession of Controlled Substance in a Correctional Facility
with Intent to Distribute (Marijuana), Possession of Controlled Substance in a Correctional
Facility with Intent to Distribute (Spice), Possession of Controlled Substance in a
Correctional Facility with Intent to Distribute (Meth), Possession of Controlled Substance
in a Correctional Facility with Intent to Distribute (Xanax), and Possession of Contraband
in Correctional Facility.

Lee was taken into custody after illegal narcotics were found inside her vehicle at the Detention Center. Investigators say they also learned Lee is allegedly involved in a relationship with an inmate currently housed in the Detention Center. Lee is being held pending bond on charges of Possession of Controlled Substance in a Correctional Facility and Assisting in Furnishing an inmate with an Unauthorized Electrical Device.

Other charges may be pending. The investigation is ongoing.
