Jackson man suspected of distributing heroin arrested for second time; 2 others arrested

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) --The Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics has arrested for the second time in as many weeks a Jackson man suspected of distributing heroin that has led to drug overdoses in the metro area.

MBN Director John Dowdy said authorities took 59-year-old Kelvin Roy “Hot” Thompson into custody.

Last week, Dowdy said agents seized about 40 grams of suspected methamphetamine, approximately four grams of suspected heroin. Agents charged Thompson then with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of heroin with intent to distribute, Director Dowdy said.

“Within days of his initial arrest, Hinds County authorities released Thompson on a $5,000 bond only to allow Thompson to return to his drug-trafficking operation. As a result of additional investigative efforts, MBN agents served arrest warrants late Monday night, again arresting Thompson and charging him with additional drug crimes,” Director Dowdy said.

Thompson’s arrest by MBN late Monday night was for conspiracy to sell heroin.

Dowdy said agents also arrested two females in the ongoing drug investigation,

Rebecca L. Vanhuizen, 32, is charged with sale and conspiracy to sell heroin and Shanti R. Nelson, 38,  is charged with possession of heroin.
