A Jackson Public School bus driver has been fired, arrested and charged with sexually assaulting an elementary student.
The incident allegedly happened in December. According to investigators, the assault took place while school was not in session. Jackson Police responded to a complaint from the child’s parents. JPS administrators reported the alleged assault to the Mississippi Department of Human Services, the Hinds County District Attorney’s Office and other law enforcement agencies.
According to a statement from JPS, the district conducts background checks on all employees. The driver was terminated, then arrested, charged with sexual battery and gratification of lust. He was taken to Hinds County jail on December 8th. JPS did not identify the former employee.
