The Senate and House are expected to go into conference regarding two bill under consideration designed to fund roadway infrastructure repairs.
Lawmakers are also expecting to consider monies from a lawsuit settlement with BP Oil. This could extend the special session for several days.
State lawmakers returned to work Monday to hash out differences between the two chambers over a state lottery and an infrastructure funding bill.
Policy makers have come up with a myriad of ways to pay for the $1.1 billion in repairs needed to fix state bridges and highways, but no clear-cut agreement on a financing package.
A state lottery is on the agenda as one way of partially paying for critically needed repairs.
The federal government is watching closely to see what state leaders do. Federal funding is in the balance and the state will lose those vital federal dollars if they cannot begin to address repairs.
