JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV)-- The U.S. Surgeon General visits Mississippi. One stop for Dr. Jerome M. Adams was Tougaloo College where leaders and students celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Owens Center.
The George A. and Ruth B Owens Health, Wellness and Human Resources Center is named after Tougaloo's first African American president and first lady. Dr. Jerome Adams says part of his job is finding out where
best practices exists, and the Owens Center offers that.
Dr. Adams also took a moment to address the opioid epidemic.
The surgeon general reminds you to get your flu shot.
Last year 80,000 people died from the flu.
