JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — The 14th Annual Mississippi child Welfare Institute Conference continues.

On Thursday the Institute welcomed the new of Foster Care.

The Conference brings together people involved in welfare to share their knowledge and experience. They focus on addressing the state’s foster care and child welfare systems.

New Executive Director David Chandler hopes the state’s recent budget cuts won’t hold back his division.

” I’m encouraged that, even though it’s very very tight budget time for our stat, I know that our legislature is going to find the money so that we can properly care for our children,” he said.

The Institute is a part of JSU’s School of Social Work. It educates people who want to work in child welfare.
