JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — Hundreds of supporters of Mississippi School Choice filled the hall at the State Capitol Tuesday morning.

The Rally was held in support of parents being able to choose which school their child can attend, regardless of what district they live in.

Gov. Phil Bryant and Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves said they fully support MS School Choice.

The governor said he will be using a large amount of his budget to help the underperforming schools as well.

” Fifteen million of my budget again this year to send coaches to those schools,” Bryant said. “Not to teach the children but to teach the teachers. I think we must demand a higher level of productivity and outcomes in every school district. Because those schools are failing it does not mean we should punish the children by making them stay there.”

Six schools were represented at the rally. At least 150 student scholars were there.
