Missouri businesswoman shot and killed in Ridgeland

Madison County Coroner Alex Breeland says the woman died Thursday evening around 9:40.

Chief John Neal says she was in SICU after surgery.

Ridgeland, Miss. (WJTV) – Ridgeland Police are investigating a fatal shooting.

It happened Thursday night as a woman walked from the Drury Inn to the Logan’s restaurant near County Line Road.

We’re told a person pulled up beside her, fired a shot that hit her in the abdomen and left the scene.

The victim is a 49-year-old businesswoman from Missouri.

Ridgeland Police Chief John Neal says the woman was alert and conscious when she was taken to the hospital.

Jackson Police confirm the suspect in this shooting is also a suspect in a shooting at a Jackson gas station.

The suspect, 22-year-old Zebulum James, was arrested at an apartment on Rainey Road and taken to the Raymond Detention Center.
