WJTV – Stefan Moody and Victoria Vivians have even more hardware to add to their collections.
The senior Rebel guard won his second straight Howell Trophy while the sophomore Bulldog guard won her second straight Gillom Trophy on Monday. These awards are given to the best male and female college basketball players in Mississippi.
Moody is the fourth straight Ole Miss player to win the Howell Trophy. He currently leads the SEC in scoring, and ranks ninth nationally, with 23.1 points per game. Moody is the fifth-fastest player in Ole Miss history to reach 1,000 career points.
Vivians is the third player to be a two-time recipient of the Gillom Trophy. She ranks second in the SEC in scoring with 17.2 points per game. This award comes just after she averaged 22 points per game in the SEC Tournament last week, where the Bulldogs made it to the championship game.
Also nominated for the Howell Trophy were two Bulldogs in senior Gavin Ware and freshman Quinndarry Weatherspoon. Vivians beat out Ole Miss’s Shandricka Sessom and Delta State’s Chelsey Rhodes for the Gillom Trophy.
