More people dying across US, being struck by drivers

Roads across the US are becoming more dangerous for pedestrians, according to a new report.

A simple walk to the mailbox ended in tragedy for 92-year-old Robert Downing.

Downing was killed while crossing the street to pick up his mail, when a driver of a car hit him.

Neighbor Bob Benoit knew Downing since he was a four-year-old boy and said Downing was “like a stepdad to me… It’s very heart wrenching.”

New research shows accidents like these are onthe rise.
