ARLINGTON COUNTY, Va. (BRPROUD) – Tuesday, November 10, is a special day for one branch of the U.S. military.

The U.S. Marine Corps is celebrating their 245th birthday.

The Marine Corps celebrated by holding a special ‘Birthday Cake Cutting’ ceremony.

The U.S. Marines started when “just eight months prior to the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the Second Continental Congress established the Continental Marines.”

The U.S. Marine Corps provided this message for all who have served their country:

Rhode Island doctor accused of ‘recklessly’ exposing patients, staff to COVID-19

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Rhode Island has suspended the license of a North Providence doctor after an investigation concluded he "recklessly" exposed his patients and staff to COVID-19.

The state's Board of Medical Licensure and Discipline's Investigative Committee determined that Dr. Anthony Farina, who owns at least six medical practices in Rhode Island, is "an immediate danger to the public."

Hot Pockets recalled because they may contain pieces of plastic, glass

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Nestlé Prepared Foods is recalling more than 700,000 pounds of Hot Pockets because they may be contaminated with pieces of glass or hard plastic, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service.

The company said they've received four complaints of consumers finding glass and plastic pieces in their frozen, not-ready-to-eat pepperoni Hot Pockets. One of those complaints involved a "minor oral injury," according to the USDA.

Trump administration carries out 13th and final execution

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (NewsNation Now) — The U.S. government carried out its 13th and final execution under President Donald Trump's administration early Saturday after the U.S. Supreme Court cleared the way for 48-year-old Dustin Higgs to be put to death.

Five hours after Higgs was initially set to be executed, the Supreme Court's conservative majority cleared the way for lethal injections to proceed by overturning a stay ordered by a federal appeals court.
