New Update shows 98% of Mississippi is Drought Free

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The latest update from the National Drought Mitigation Center shows that 98% of the state is now drought free. A “flash drought” quickly developed during the month of October, but recent record breaking rainfall helped get rid of dry conditions.

River levels were at minor flood stage last weekend, but are now back in their banks. Minor drought still persists for extreme western portions of Jefferson and Adams counties.
