One person in custody after car fire near Ridgeland

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – One person was taken into custody after an SUV caught fire. It happened around midnight on State Street and White Oak Court.

When 12 News was on the scene, a man was being taken away in handcuffs.

According to a Jackson firefighter, the suspect was the driver and the SUV had been stolen.

A Ridgeland police officer used a stepping stone to smash a window and rescue the driver from the burning vehicle.

We are told no one was hurt. There’s no word on how the fire started.
