Perfect No More: Heidelberg Drops Heartbreaker in 2A Title Game

News

WHLT — Heidelberg’s bid for a perfect season, as well as the 2A state crown, came to a gut-wrenching end Friday afternoon. The Lady Oilers entered their last game of the year with an unblemished mark of 32-0, but Ingomar rallied from an 11-point halftime deficit to deny their shot at history. The Lady Falcons tactically chipped away at the deficit, and finally took their first lead of the game at 38-37 on a Lauren Thompson floater. Ingomar would hang on to win 41-40, surviving Nique Cherry’s missed lay-up attempt with less than ten seconds left to go in regulation.
