JONES COUNTY, Miss (WJTV) - A Jones County woman and her teenage daughter were not home when the house burned to the ground in the early morning hours.
Capt. Lance Chancellor with Powers Fire & Rescue says thankfully, Dusti West Overstreet was working the overnight shift at South Central Regional Medical Center and her daughter Carlie was out of town.
The house was owned by Overstreet's brother, Traci West.
The roof collapsed during the blaze. Volunteers say it is a total loss. But they were able to salvage a nearby storage shed and its contents.
Units from the Jones County Sheriff's Department, EMServ Ambulance Service and Dixie Electric Power Association also responded to the scene.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
