Meridian man charged after police seize over 11 lbs of drugs during traffic stop

HATTIESBURG, MS (WJTV) - A traffic stop conducted on a vehicle in the 6000 block of U.S. 49 for an obscured tag resulted in the seizure of a large amount of narcotics.

On Saturday, March 10th, around 9:30 p.m. approximately 11 pounds of methamphetamine, over 1,000 Xanax pills, marijuana, over 200 ecstasy pills, and liquid codeine were seized from the vehicle.

35-year-old Leonard Burge of Meridian was arrested and charged with trafficking a controlled substance, sale of a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance. Burge was booked in the Forrest County Jail.
