Preliminary hearing held for man accused of killing 2 nuns

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — A preliminary hearing for Rodney Sanders has ended in Durant.

He’s accused of killing two nuns in their home.

Investigators say that Sister Margaret Held and Sister Paula Merrill were stabbed to death.

An MBI investigator testified saying they do have a confession from Sanders.

Investigators also revealed that fingerprints were found in the nuns car and home belonging to Sanders.

It was also revealed in court that Sanders has an extensive criminal history spanning at least two decades involving robbery, assault, and DUI.

Investigators say that Sanders was living in a shed across from the nuns home for about three days before their murder.

The case will be sent to a grand jury.
