JONES COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) — A horrifying discovery in Jones County, after a couple finds a sealed trash bag filled with dying puppies.

Officials with the Southern Cross Animal Shelter said seven puppies were in the bag.

The couple who found the dogs spotted the bag moving. They initially thought the wind was moving the bag, but after a closer look, they found the dogs suffering. Four of them were already dead.

We’re told that the remaining three puppies were taken to the clinic for emergency care. Only two dogs have survived.

Southern Cross Animal Rescue Manager Heather Williams said the puppies would have to undergo weeks of treatment.

“We’re hoping someone might recognize these puppies,” she said. “They might know the area. They might know someone capable. Any information you have, the only way we can fight for these animals is to fight the people doing these evils to them.”
