RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) — Two adults and two minors were arrested in connection with 23 auto burglaries that happened in Rankin County.
18-year-old Desmon Daley and 21-year-old MacThomas Wilson confessed to their involvement in the crimes.
Sheriff Bryan Bailey said the burglaries happened in neighborhoods near the Reservoir. The crime spree stretches back to the beginning of August, officials said.
The four suspects would work together and burglarize SUVs and pickup trucks.
Deputies said they stole weapons, money, electronics, medication, and other items.
Although some of the vehicles were reported as being locked, there was no evidence that showed that any of the vehicles were locked, deputies said. The suspects also told authorities they simply opened unlocked doors and took items from inside.
The two minors were taken to the Rankin County Youth Detention Center. Daley and Wilson are being held without bound in the Rankin County jail as they await for their initial court appearance.
They will face several counts of vehicle burglary, possession of stolen property, and conspiracy to commit crime.
Sheriff’s deputies said this bust solved at least 23 unsolved burglaries.
Law enforcement officers are asking residents to always lock their vehicles and to not leave valuables in them.
