Rankin County woman arrested for violating burn ban

RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – One Rankin County resident has been arrested for violating a county wide burn ban.

Heather Dewolf, 23-year-old, was arrested on October 10th. Dewolf is currently out on a $1,000 bond.

Rankin County authorities say Dewolf was warned two times by aurthorities not to burn anything prior to her arrest.

“We will continue to warn people at least on the first time just in case they don’t know, but if we repeatedly have to go back to a location then a criminal charge is possible,” says Richard Lawrence, counsel for the sheriff’s department.

Dewolf is expected to be in court on Tuesday, November 3, 2015.

Governor Phil Bryant issued a statewide burn ban, Tuesday.

Violators of the burn ban could be fined $100- $500.
