Reminders for Municipal General Election Day in Mississippi

News

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – According to the Secretary of State’s Office, 191 of Mississippi’s 297 municipalities will participate in the state’s Municipal General Election Day on Tuesday, June 8, 2021.

Polls will open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m. Any voter in line at 7:00 p.m. is entitled to cast a ballot.

Voting precincts for municipal elections often differ from voting precincts for county elections, so voters should double-check their polling place with their local Municipal Clerk’s Office prior to Election Day.

The Secretary of State’s Office will have observers in precincts across Mississippi. Problems at the polls observed by state observers or otherwise reported to the Elections Division will be referred to the proper authorities, including the Attorney General’s Office or appropriate District Attorney’s Office.
