Rep. Thompson declares victory in Democratic primary for House District 2


JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – The chairman of the U.S. House Homeland Security Committee has easily won a Democratic primary in Mississippi.

Rep. Bennie Thompson defeated Sonia Rathburn on Tuesday. Rathburn owns a chiropractic business.

The two competed in the state’s 2nd Congressional District, which stretches along the Mississippi River, through the Delta and into Jackson.
