JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — Entergy and the Salvation Army team up to help people stay cool this summer.
They handed out about 300 fans to senior citizens, low-income, and disabled customers Thursday at the Salvation Army Worship and Service Center on Beasley Road. The customers were chosen and notified that they were a recipient.
They told us the event benefited customers using Entergy’s “Power to Care” program.
This is the 17th year of Beat the Heat event and the first time Entergy Mississippi has partnered with The Salvation Army to give away the fans.
Statewide, Entergy officials said they will give away 400 fans this year. More than 9,200 fans and 700 air conditioners have been donated to low-income, elderly and disabled Mississippians since the program began in 1998, they said.
