Advance Auto Parts Warehouse in Copiah County employs more than 200 people will be shutting its doors soon.
The warehouse in the small town of Gallman will layoff most of their employees by as early as June.
The Mayor of Hazlehurst says its unfortunate that so many people will lose their jobs.
“We regret it. I hate it. I did ask them why Mississippi warehouse, and he said due to the cut back that this was one of the warehouses that they did pick.”
In a statement, a corporate spokesperson says the choice was a difficult one.
As part of our ongoing efforts to optimize our supply chain network across North America, we have decided to transition our distribution center activities from our Gallman, MS location to other facilities in our network. This decision was a difficult one and was made after an extensive review of our distribution network and how we can best optimize it to meet the needs of our Customers today and in the future. There should be no impact to our Customers or stores due to this decision and our main focus now is on our impacted Team Members and ensuring we provide assistance to them.
The Gallman facility will close down operations completely by the end of 2018.
