BREAKING: MSU Quarterback Nick Fitzgerald out in season opener

State

During a press conference, Mississippi State Head Coach Joe Moorhead says starting Quarterback Nick Fitzgerald will not play in the season opener this Saturday.

Moorhead says the suspension is due to a violation of team rules back in March.

Second string Quarterback Keytaon Thompson will start in the season opener against Stephen F. Austin.

Fitzgerald, a senior, is considered one of the most recognizable names in the SEC.

MSU begins the season ranked 18 in the Associated Press Top 25. It is the first time since 2011 the team has been ranked in the pre-season poll.
