One shot on Mississippi Valley State University’s campus

ITTA BENA, Miss. (WJTV) — Mississippi Valley State University police are investigating a shooting that happened on campus.

Investigators said the shooting happened inside the Charles Lackey Recreational Center around 6:50 Tuesday night.

According to a statement from the university, early reports show the shooting happened after a disagreement with a group on individuals. Leaders said the person who was shot is not a student. His injuries are non-life threatening.

MVSU police are working to find the suspect. There’s no word if the shooter is a student.

Police are asking the campus community to use caution and be aware of their surroundings.
