POLICE: Baby stabbed, placed in oven

According to an Associated Press report out of Shaw, Miss., police have taken a grandmother into custody after a baby was stabbed, placed in an oven and baked.


Bolivar County Sheriff’s deputies and police responded to an emergency call at a home on Martin Luther King Drive in Shaw, after 7 p.m. Monday, when they found the dead baby girl in an oven.

The Mississippi Department of Public Safety says the grandmother is being questioned, but no charges have been filed as of Tuesday morning.

Authorities are investigating the death and say the body of the 20-month-old little girl has been sent for autopsy. 

A relative discovered her in the heated oven, before calling 911, according to the Bolivar Sheriff.
  
Shaw is a town of 2,000 residents and is about about 100 miles northwest of Jackson, Miss.
