The “Women for Cindy Coalition” hosted a kick-off in Jackson to show support for Mississippi first female U.S. Senator.
Hyde-Smith spoke at the event where WJTV asked her about the President’s recent endorsement.
“He said i want you to stay here as our US Senator for Mississippi. He said I’m going to help you stay here. He says you are helping me more than anybody else is helping me. Just that support from the President of the United States and to get that call. That’s a pretty good confirmation,” said Hyde-Smith.
Governor Phil Bryant appointed Hyde-Smith to fill the seat vacated by former Senator Thad Cochran.
She faces former Secretary of Agriculture Mike Espy and state Senator Chris McDaniel in the general election in November.
