RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A father and son were busted during traffic stop on Friday for having crystal meth.
According to Mississippi Highway Patrol Cpl. Eric Henry, Cesar Cuevas and Adrian Cuevas were pulled over on I-20 near the Airport Road exit during a traffic stop. MHP said they pulled them over for careless driving around 10 a.m.
On the back of the Dodge Ram they were driving, there were six wooden pallets. MHP troopers asked the two men where they were going, but they gave conflicting statements. The two men consented to have the truck searched.
The trooper found crystal meth inside hidden compartments in the frame of the pallets.
MHP said each pallet had about 43 to 48 pounds of meth. In total, MHP confiscated more than 250 pounds of the drug. They said this is the largest crystal meth bust made during a traffic stop in MHP history.
They are being held in the Rankin County jail. They will be charged with possession of crystal meth with intent to distribute.
MHP said they discovered that the pallets were created to hide and transport crystal meth.
