Two Habitat for Humanity homes under construction broken into

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — Two Habitat for Humanity homes that are under construction were broken into on Greenview Drive.

Habitat for Humanity spokesperson Peggy Hampton tells WJTV that no valuables or tools were left in the homes overnight.

The homes have alarm systems and police responded after the alarms went off.

Habitat homes go to families in need and are built with funds given to the organization through donations.

The homes are near completion.

“Who steals from Habitat? It’s gonna cost us money that wasn’t budgeted to make these repairs, for somebody to just do something unnecessarily and mean and kick in a couple of doors and kind of start out our day off in a crummy way,” said Merrill McKewen, the executive director of Habitat for Humanity.
