With two runners on and just one out, Luke Reynolds showed why he won the Conference USA Player of the Year award.
The Golden Eagle third baseman fielded a hard grounder, tagged the runner going to third base and then got the out at first for a game-ending double play. It lifted Southern Miss to a 5-3 victory over UTSA to push USM to the next round of the Conference USA Tournament.
The Golden Eagles jumped out to a 3-0 lead thanks to two RBI, including a home run, from Matt Wallner. Stevie Powers pitched seven innings, giving up just four hits and two earned runs.
Southern Miss will take on either UTSA or Charlotte tomorrow in the next round.
