UPDATE: Jackson Police have identified the person found in a burned vehicle Tuesday.Police said 41-year-old Justin Elmasian was the person in the vehicle.The case is being handled as a death investigation pending the outcome of the autopsy results.
JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — Jackson police officers and firefighters are on the scene of a vehicle fire where they found a deceased person inside the car.
Jackson Police said the scene is on East River Place.
Chief Lee Vance tells WJTV that fire crews came to the area around 11:30 a.m. The person was found on the passenger side of the car. Officers believe the person was the driver, police said.
Witnesses told police they heard a popping sound coming from the area.
The investigation is ongoing.
