Vicksburg resident grateful she was not home when car crashed into house

VICKSBURG, Miss. (WJTV) – A woman and her son are out of their home for a while after a man crashed his car through the front of it.

The Vicksburg Police Department says Albert Jones, Jr. blew through a traffic stop on Saturday, November 21st before crashing.

Jones was sentenced one year ago for felony eluding.

After he hit the house, WJTV was told he got out and ran.

He was taken into custody a short time later.

A woman who lives in the home says every room is damaged except one.

“I’m just grateful that me and my son wasn’t in here. We’re alive, god just kept us out for some reason, cause normally he sits right over there,” Mary Harmon, a Vicksburg homeowner, said.

Harmon says she’s now staying with relatives.

Jones is charged with disorderly conduct, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and DUI.

He’s also facing charges for violating parole.
