JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Governor Tate Reeves held news conference to discuss issues currently impacting the state of Mississippi, including the arrest of the former director of the Department of Human Services and others arrested in largest public embezzlement case in Mississippi history.
Reeves said some of those arrested donated to his campaign for governor. He addressed what he will do with his money.
“Some of the people, we now believed sere involved in the former director’s apparent criminal scheme, gave money to our campaign,” stated Reeves. “I can tell you right now anything they gave to the campaign is going to be moved to a separate untouched bank account. When the full set of facts come to light, I expect the government will likely work to recover any funds. Anything they gave to the campaign will be there waiting to return to the taxpayers and help the people it was intended for.”
