JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — Friends of WJTV, we report sad news this Friday. We were recently informed that WJTV Reporter Melanie Dotson has died.
She passed away Friday.
Melanie joined the WJTV newsroom in April of 2016. She is from Brandon, Miss. and is a graduate of Tougaloo College.
During her time here at WJTV she covered stories about two men trapped in a gravel pit in Copiah County, the deaths of two nuns who were killed in Durant, flooding in Mississippi, along with a host of other stories.
In her spare time, Melanie loved to read!

A vigil open to the public will be held at 7 p.m. Friday night at Woodworth Chapel at Tougaloo College in her honor.
