GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) – Court documents show a Long Beach woman is accused of cutting a pacemaker/defibrillator out of her dead boyfriend’s chest before she put his remains in a trash can.
That was learned as 63-year-old Christy Lee Zarrella had a preliminary hearing Wednesday on charges of tampering with evidence, failure to report a death and desecration of a corpse. She remains jailed at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center on a $500,500 bond.
Zarella is accused in the death of 87-year-old Edward A. Miller, whose decomposing remains were found Oct. 22 in the back yard of a home they shared.
The Sun Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1kSNam4 ) how he died remains unclear. The state medical examiner says wire clippers or a similar tool had been used to clip the wires off his heart device.
