Woman rescued after early morning house fire in Jackson

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Jackson Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 600 block of Cherry Street early Sunday morning. Fire officials arrived at the scene at around 5:00 a.m.

Division Fire Chief Cleotha Sanders said when firefighters arrived, they learned of a woman trapped inside. The woman was found unconscious in a back room during a search.

The woman was taken to the hospital. Her condition is not known at this time.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
