MADISON, Miss. (WJTV) – Former Mississippi State quarterback John Bond is getting a chance at something he’s wanted to do for a while, and that’s be a head coach.
“I told a couple of the kids that asked me about him,” said St. Joseph athletic director Michael Howell, “I said he was Dak before Dak.”
They can look up the videos and learn or just listen to the guy who last played at Mississippi State 35 years ago and never wanted to leave the game.
“I’ve been within arm’s length, been within striking distance of football always,” Bond said.
Bond hasn’t been on a coaching staff since 1999, but St. Joseph is betting on Bond to lead its football program.
The Madison resident says St. Joseph is the place for him after scratching his football itch by volunteering at various schools.
