Former Terry Bulldog Omarius Bryant reflects on his path to the NFL

JACKSON, Miss (WJTV) - While many NFL players are vacationing or relaxing before they have to report back for training camp in a few weeks, former Terry Bulldog, Omarius Bryant is training.

"It helps you maintain conditioning, keeps your strength," said Bryant.

He said this grind is nothing new, he's been doing it his whole football career. After leaving Terry High School, he played at SMCC before transferring to Western Kentucky.

And, his path to the NFL wasn't a straight shot either.

Just 3 days after being picked up by the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent, he was cut.

"At first I thought maybe this is just not the path God has chosen for me to go. So, that week I kept working out. I prayed about it.

He said he then got a call from the Los Angeles Rams, he spent last season on their practice squad.

But, his eyes have never veered from the goal of making that 53-man roster and he said being cut in the NFL gave him the drive to keep fighting.

"I keep that mindset every day when I wake up. Every time I hit my feet on the ground it's time to grind."
