JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Provine High School football coaching staff will have a new look this fall. The team’s new offensive coordinator is one of the most decorated receivers in Ole Miss history.
Shay Hodge will be calling plays for the Rams this season.
In his four years with the Rebels, the Morton native became the school’s all-time leading receiver.
Hodge says he’s not nervous about taking on this position for the first time and has a good idea of what he’s going to do with the Provine offense.
“I’m confident because i’m a very confident guy, period. When you play ball, there’s always been scrutiny around you anyway to perform so i take the same mindset,” Hodge said. “I had to perform then, I gotta perform now. Just get my kids to understand, to make it simple enough to where they can go out there and play ball.
“I’m gonna try and do something that fits our personnel. i’m not necessarily gonna go full spread. I’m gonna play a little bit in the ‘I’, little bit in the spread, a little bit of 3 by 1, 2 by 2, try to mix it up, be multiple.”
