Southern Miss moving on from beatdown of Marshall

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WJTV) – The Southern Miss men’s basketball team is heading to South Florida this week for a two-game road swing, and they’re going there with plenty of confidence.

That’s because in their last time out, the Golden Eagles beat Marshall by 50 points.

The final count was 101-51, and it was the biggest win for head coach Doc Sadler in his five years with the program. The win also improved USM’s record in Conference USA to 4-5.

However, Sadler knows this was just one game, and hopes it doesn’t have a negative effect on his squad going forward.

“I think anytime you score the basketball like we did and had a win like we did, you feel chesty about yourself,” Sadler said. “But at the same time you better realize as soon as you do that you got a game coming up in a few days that can bring you back to ground zero real quick.”

The Golden Eagles are at Florida International Thursday before visiting Florida Atlantic Saturday.
