SCOTT COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV)- An early morning storm ripped across parts of Mississippi causing the community to experience severe home damages and days without power.

Emergency Management Mike Marlow says trees fell near the Hillsboro area, Homewood area and the lake area resulting in the power outages throughout Scott County and Smith County. These cities included Forest, Lorena, and Morton.

Other areas experiencing power outages include parts of Rankin County and Covington County.

Southern Pine Electric and other crews are currently restoring the electricity for over 21,000 customers which will be a multi-day process.

According to National Weather Services, gusty winds across the region will continue to produce damage over the next few hours. Winds are not expected to subside until the afternoon.

As of now, there have been no reports of any injuries.
